What the app does

Vanilla Discounts lets a Shopify store run promotions and issue personal discount codes to customers when something happens (a birthday, a first order, an order count, a spend total, a tag). It runs on Cloudflare infrastructure in the European Union.

What we store

• Store data: store name, domain, contact email, currency, timezone, plan, branding and email settings.
• Rules and promotions the merchant configures.
• Reward records: the customer's Shopify id, email address and name, the code issued, its value and expiry, and whether it was emailed, redeemed (order number) or cancelled.
• Customer state needed for triggers: the tags last seen on the customer, order count, total spend and first order date. Tags are only read; the app never adds or removes customer tags.
• Email log: recipient, time and delivery status of reward emails sent by the app.

We do not store addresses, phone numbers or payment details.

How we use it

Only to run the service for the store that installed the app: evaluating rules, creating discount codes in the store, sending reward emails through Mailgun (EU) on the merchant's behalf, writing the code onto the customer's own metafields for Shopify Flow, and showing the merchant what happened. Reward emails are sent only to customers who accepted email marketing from the store, unless the merchant turns that safeguard off.

Sharing

Shopify (the platform the app runs on) and Mailgun (email delivery). No data is sold or used for advertising.

Retention and your rights

• Uninstall: 48 hours after the app is removed Shopify sends a shop redaction request and every record for that store is deleted.
• Customer erasure: on a Shopify customer-redact request we remove the name and email from that customer's rewards and delete their cached state. Codes are kept because they are the store's promotional records.
• Data access: on a customer data request the merchant can export that customer's rewards from the app.
